Linux System Adminstrator

Linux System Administrator (Red Hat Enterprise 5.x), VMWare, Scripts, Build Engineer, Release Engineer, Distributed build testing, Linux Scripting

The Linux System Administrator is responsible for creation and verification of automated build results, including troubleshooting issues, identifying and resolving problems.  Provide daily maintenance of the development lab and servers, including deployment, health monitoring for existing services.  Contribute to planning for hardware requirements (capacity planning) as needs grow.  Develop ongoing enhancement of the existing build process.  Additional responsibilities include performing application code deployments as required and keeping track of RHN alerts, open cases and incident and problem management related to all OS.
 

The successful candidate will have 2+ years professional experience with Linux system administration, Scripting (Bash or Korn and Perl preferred).  The candidate must have the ability to manage build environment, including familiarity with source control and standard build tools (e.g make, ant) and be familiarity with chef or similar open source equivalents for managing a distributed environment.  The candidate must have experience in related role required (such as build management, system administration, IT/helpdesk services) with a 4 year degree, or equivalent experience.  Lastly experience managing VMware environment, including the creation, management and deployment of VMware images is required.

The following experience will also add value to the candidate operations support, IBM Middleware, Java/J2EE support, and performance tuning in a high availability large scale enterprise.

Senior Software Architect

The Senior Software Architect is responsible for the overall architecture, design, and development of new software and extensive software revisions of the end to end solution including operations center and custom embedded clients.  The design is based on IBM middleware and includes products for transaction processing, messaging, database, and systems and network management.  The product is offered as a Software-As-A-Service solution.  The Senior Software Architect defines product requirements and creates high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, performance, and integration with new or existing systems/platforms in a mission critical real-time environment.  Strong hands-on background in Enterprise and Embedded Linux and IBM software components (Websphere, DB2, Tivoli) with design skills in a client/server environment is required.  A clear understanding of real-time distributed transactions, wireless communications, and database technology is necessary.  The successful candidate will have proven leadership capabilities, strong organizational and time management skills, and will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  The position requires the candidate to perform a variety of complicated tasks, provide consultation on complex projects, and is expected to be the top level contributor/specialist with excellent written and verbal communications skills.  A bachelor's degree in computer science and at least 15 years of experience in developing, designing, and leading complex designs is required.  This position reports to the Vice President of Software Development.

Tivoli Design and Development

Consert is seeking a full-time employee with Tivoli systems and network development and administration skills.  This is a hands on position where you will set up, configure, and support internal and external systems and networks.  This position requires skills to install and manage a Tivoli based environment.  In addition, the Tivoli component must be developed to automate problem discovery and recovery procedures.  Develop and maintain all systems, applications, security, and network configurations.  Troubleshoot network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan.  Recommend upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.  Provide technical support and guidance to users.  The position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 8-10 years of relevant experience.  You must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures required for supporting a complex server and client environment where clients are spread over a wide area and are unattended. You will be required to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Perform a variety of tasks in a pressure filled environment where 24/7 operations is expected.  You may be required to lead others and provide consultation with management team on complex projects.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.  May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist.  This position reports to the Director of Information Technology.

Hardware Engineer

The candidate will design and support mixed technology platforms; digital, analog and RF experience helpful. Some experience in the energy device development and the energy market would be a plus. The development projects will require a breath of hands on product development experience. The role will require a working knowledge of creating product specifications as well as managing multiple product iterations along with knowledge of engineering change process control.  Position reports to the Director of Strategic Product Development.

Summary of essential job functions

The position will require digital design specifically with Arm processors, along with some meteorology, RF, and analog design. The candidate must be self starter and be able to work independently. A strategic and entrepreneurial thinker in regards to design as well vendor development and selection would be helpful. The role may require a quick change of direction at times as well as managing multiple tasks. The position will allow excellent opportunity for growth as well as experiencing multiple roles within a development team.

Minimum requirements

A Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years or 10 years experience working as a non degreed electrical engineer.

Senior Embedded Software Developer

The Senior Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for the overall system software design, implementation, and support of the remote unattended real time embedded system.  The device controller and gateway devices are used in a distributed processing environment.  You will research, document, and lead the development for operating system environment, communications features, security, system/network management, and applications within the required devices.  Multiple device types will be developed.  Consult with server side applications developers on support and test requirements.  Serve as expert in all areas of design and application development.  The position requires a strong understanding of, embedded Linux, C programming environment, wireless communications protocols (wide area and home area network), and real time transactions.  The candidate must demonstrate capability to lead a complicated fast paced development project.  A bachelor’s degree in computer science with 7-10 years experience developing and designing embedded software solutions is required.


Embedded Applications Developer

The Embedded Applications Developer will architect and develop software for the Consert Smart Energy Gateway.  Example application functions include Zigbee Communications, MQSeries messaging, TCP/IP message routing and security, Wireless Modem Communications, AMI meter communications (C12.19), provisioning, OTA software updates.

Primary Skills:


Utility Program Manager

The Utility Program Manager will act as the primary interface between Consert and the Utility and its Customers.

The responsibilities will include:  coordinating with the utility, customers, and contractors scheduling for installation of the Consert System; creating reports for the utility to keep them informed as to enhancements and features being deployed to the system; issues that may arise with customer installations; Utility and Customer training to use the Consert System; complete test plan with the Utility and assist them as needed with control events; support Utility Customers with issues that they may have with using their programs as well as debugging any issues that they may have with their installed hardware; creating feature and enhancement requests for the development team.

The Utility Program Manager must have good interpersonal skills, and be able to work and communicate with people of various educational and technical backgrounds, verbally and in written communications; be proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point; able to put together professional presentations and reports; would preferably have a computer science background or at least be capable and eager to learn how to debug system issues using the appropriate system commands.
