Cooperative Conservation
Consert empowers consumers to manage their energy consumption.
Utilities install a smart Home Area Network (HAN) on consumers’ properties by attaching intelligent load measurement and control hardware to major energy consuming devices such as HVACs, pool pumps and water heaters, and utilizing programmable, communicating thermostats.
Consumers then set up their own energy management profile and comfort preferences through a web-based interface, keeping them in control while encouraging and empowering them to reduce energy consumption with little or no impact to their comfort and lifestyle. Under the authorization of the consumer, the utility is able to initiate control events to reduce electric demand by consumer, device, feeder line or any other grouping basis, with each participant reserving the option to opt-out of any event via the thermostat or web portal on any internet enabled device.
